Lake and River Search and Rescue

Minimize

Cultus Lake, Chilliwack Lake and the Fraser River are often filled with people fishing, water skiing or enjoying other recreational activities on or near these local water ways.

The responsibility for Inland waters is that of the local police force, in Chilliwack that responsibility falls to the RCMP. Chilliwack SAR is often called upon to assist the RCMP with searches for missing fishermen, overdue boaters and to facilitate the rescue of vehicles in the water, canoeists in trouble and a variety of other accidents that happen in or near the local lakes or rivers.

Chilliwack SAR currently operates a 20’ aluminum jet boat and a 14’ Zodiac and has crews trained to operate these boats in a variety of conditions.
