Membership information sessions

Minimize

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with Chilliwack Search & Rescue, please come to one of our information sessions.

We will be holding three sessions on Saturday March 10th at the following times:

12pm, 1pm & 2pm.

The session will last approximately one hour. You will find out what being a SAR volunteer requires, you will meet some of the current team members and equipment and you will find out how to apply to become a member.

Once the information sessions are complete, we will open up an on-line web application form.

If you have any questions, please contact our Membership officer via our Contact Us page.

Chilliwack Search & Rescue volunteers are committed individuals who are available at a moment’s notice to come to someone’s aid in potentially hazardous terrain and situations. They continuously train, improving and advancing their skills.

Between 60 and 70 times a year they are called out to search for lost persons or to rescue those who are injured or trapped and cannot help themselves.

Being a member of Chilliwack Search & Rescue requires that you pass a recruitment training program, attend weekly training sessions, be available to respond to emergencies and annually devote over 300 volunteer hours.

Our team recruits members as our needs change. We usually take on a group of trainee members who then complete the basic training together. When we are looking for members, we will post an advertisement in the newspaper and on our website.

We are not currently recruiting and we do not have any plan to do so in the near future. However, if you are at least 19 years of age, physically fit, active in the outdoors or wilderness, have a clean criminal record and are interested in search and rescue - you are invited to send an email to our membership officer by selecting 'membership information' on out Contact Us page. We will keep your information on file and we will contact you by email when we are next recruiting.
