[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_empty_space height=”75px”][vc_column_text]The responsibility for missing persons in British Columbia falls under the jurisdiction of the local police force, in Chilliwack that responsibility falls to the RCMP. Chilliwack SAR in conjunction with the Emergency Management BC and the local RCMP are often called upon to assist with searches for lost or missing persons. Missing persons fall into two categories – urban searches and wilderness searches.

Urban searches should not be confused with Urban Search & Rescue (USAR). Urban Search and Rescue involves locating, rescue (extrication), and initial medical stabilization of victims trapped in confined spaces. For more information visit Vancouver Urban Search & Rescue.

The majority of searches in the urban setting involve missing children or elderly persons who have wandered from home. Searches in the urban setting have also included assisting the RCMP with evidence searches. Wilderness searches involve searching the rugged wilderness areas that surround Chilliwack for hikers, climbers, hunters and fisherman that have become lost, Injured or stranded by factors such as darkness.

The responsibility for injured persons; who are in a known location, falls to the BC Ambulance Service. Chilliwack SAR is often called upon to assist with rescuing a subject from remote or wilderness terrain; such as a stretcher carry when a Mountain biker becomes injured on a mountain trail. Chilliwack SAR also assists British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS) with other technical rescues such as embankment, boat and helicopter evacuation.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”75px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_empty_space height=”75px”][mk_custom_sidebar sidebar=”sidebar-1″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_gallery images=”7971,7970,7972,7974,7975″ style=”style3″ height=”365″ margin_bottom=”50″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1460493882099{margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column][mk_revslider id=”callaction”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
